Oncology acupuncture, lymphatic drainage technique, Reset Detox diet, cosmetic acupuncture
Sunglim Kim first began her career in healthcare after she studied nursing science for her Bachelor of Science from Korea University in 1990. She began working as a registered nurse at Korea University’s affiliated hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for patients who underwent neurosurgeries. After seeing the clear lack of holistic treatment and care after surgeries, she became interested in Traditional Korean Medicine, which focuses on the holistic treatment of the body rather than treating specific symptoms.
She moved to the United States in 2009, and got RN licenses for the state of New York and California. Soon afterwards, she began learning more about integrative, holistic approaches at Dongguk University in Los Angeles where she studied acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, earning her acupuncturist license in 2013. From her past experience as a registered nurse in ICU, she has great empathy for patients who are suffering from chemotherapy and radiation side effects. Thus, she completed the Integrative Medicine Education and Training Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Her specialty is oncology acupuncture and applying acupuncture therapy and lymphatic drainage technique to address the physical and emotional side effects of cancer treatments such as fatigue, pain, nausea, and vomiting in order to assist in pain management and improve patients’ quality of life.
Currently, she is furthering her studies to complete her DAOM degree (Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) in Dongguk University in Los Angeles. Her Capstone research focus is on oncology acupuncture, which is to be completed in 2018.
