Dr. Jong Hwa Lee is an internationally distinguished expert in the field of Korean medicine. His contribution and commitment to the field of Korean medicine in the last 25 years has been tremendous. Today, he is renowned for his publications, lectures, patent and foremost his experience in the field.

He began his studies in Korean medicine in 1990 at Kyunghee University in Seoul, South Korea and received his B.S. (6 years), M.S. (2 years), and Ph.D (3 years) degrees from Kyunghee University. After graduating, he devoted several years to research. He researched biochemical mechanism of metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity and their interaction with herbal ingredients (Inulin and Resveratrol) at Kyung Hee University Medical School’s molecular biology lab. During this time, he began developing his trademark program “Reset Detox,” which is a comprehensive and holistic approach to reset one’s metabolism. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a medical officer in the Korean military.

His clinical career began in 2001 when Dr. Lee established the first Kyunghee Acupia Wellness Clinic in Seoul, South Korea. Started as one clinic, Acupia Wellness grew to ten branches that now cover key parts of South Korea. As he gathered many years of clinical experience, he developed a groundbreaking branch of acupuncture – Vertex Synchronizing Technique (VST) acupuncture. VST acupuncture has redefined non-invasive treatments for musculoskeletal disorders and has been administered in over 100,000 treatments.

Aside from his clinical practice, Dr. Lee has been driven to raise awareness of Korean Medicine and its benefits, speaking internationally.

Dr. Sonhye Cho Ph.D, L.Ac, KMD

Dr. Seon Hye Cho is a licensed acupuncturist and an expert in the field of acupuncture and Korean medicine with over 30 impressive years of research and practice in the field. She received her B.S. and Ph.D degrees in Korean Medicine at Kyunghee University, the top research university for Korean Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. Following her studies in South Korea, she has furthered her research globally. She was in charge of the pain clinic in Saudi Arabia’s royal hospital, Erfan & Bagedo General Hospital. She also researched in the molecular neurobiology lab in Mclean Hospital Harvard Medical School.

With her love for educating aspiring acupuncture students, she was a professor in Kyunghee University, where she lectured with the emphasis on the science of herbal medicine and the development of herbal drug products on neuronal disease such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

In 2006, she moved to the United States and became a licensed acupuncturist. Afterwards, she taught at Donguk University in Los Angeles as well, continuing her career in educating future acupuncturists. Recently, with her solid background in integrated medicine, she has served as the team physician for the Korean National Women’s Volleyball team, carefully preparing each athlete before the match to prevent and care for sports injuries and maximize each athlete’s performance.

Today, Dr. Cho focuses her research and practice on using non-invasive methods to treat women’s health (infertility, pregnancy, postpartum support), ENT conditions (allergies, asthma, rhinitis), and skin issues (acne, eczema, psoriasis).

Dr. Seon Ryang Kim

Dr. Seon Ryang Kim is an experienced professional in the field of acupuncture and Korean Medicine. She received her B.S. (6 years), M.S. (2 years), and Ph.D (3 years) degrees in Korean Medicine at Kyunghee University, a top research university in Seoul, South Korea, dedicating a total of 11 years in her studies in the field. Throughout her practice and research, her passion has always been about helping her patients optimize their lifestyle patterns including diet and fitness plans to help those struggling with obesity, infertility, and other women’s health issues.

She earned her Korean Medical Doctor license in 1998, and started practicing in Seoul, South Korea. She founded a weight loss center at Kyunghee Acupia Wellness Clinic in 2002. Through her many years of practice, she has gained expertise in the areas of weight loss, pregnancy, hormonal imbalance, and children’s health.

In 2008, she moved to Beverly Hills, California with her family and became a licensed acupuncturist in California in 2009. Since then, Dr. Kim has been very involved in diverse fields relating to her practice. She became a licensed esthetician in 2012. In 2014, she got a QME (Qualified Medical Evaluator) license. Qualified medical evaluators are qualified physicians who are certified by the Division of Workers’ Compensation – Medical Unit to examine injured workers to evaluate disability and write medical-legal reports. She has also been a fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) since 2016. The ABORM fellowship demonstrates her extensive knowledge in Western and Oriental Reproductive Medicine and their relation to the treatment of reproductive disorders.

With her vast knowledge in many fields and caring heart, she is dedicated to helping her patients meet their individual needs with non-invasive methods using acupuncture and reset detox programs. Aside from her regular practice, she has served in mission trips by providing medical service to those in impoverished areas in Asia, North America, and South America.

Sunglim Kim L.Ac, RN

Sunglim Kim first began her career in healthcare after she studied nursing science for her Bachelor of Science from Korea University in 1990. She began working as a registered nurse at Korea University’s affiliated hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for patients who underwent neurosurgeries. After seeing the clear lack of holistic treatment and care after surgeries, she became interested in Traditional Korean Medicine, which focuses on the holistic treatment of the body rather than treating specific symptoms.

She moved to the United States in 2009, and got RN licenses for the state of New York and California. Soon afterwards, she began learning more about integrative, holistic approaches at Dongguk University in Los Angeles where she studied acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, earning her acupuncturist license in 2013. From her past experience as a registered nurse in ICU, she has great empathy for patients who are suffering from chemotherapy and radiation side effects. Thus, she completed the Integrative Medicine Education and Training Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Her specialty is oncology acupuncture and applying acupuncture therapy and lymphatic drainage technique to address the physical and emotional side effects of cancer treatments such as fatigue, pain, nausea, and vomiting in order to assist in pain management and improve patients’ quality of life.

Currently, she is furthering her studies to complete her DAOM degree (Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) in Dongguk University in Los Angeles. Her Capstone research focus is on oncology acupuncture, which is to be completed in 2018.
