2. What Is AMH? A Key Hormone That Helps Estimate Your Remaining Egg Supply

Why AMH Matters

AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) is a key marker used to estimate ovarian reserve, or the number of remaining eggs.

Many women assume that a regular period means normal fertility, but AMH often provides a more precise picture.

What Does AMH Measure?

AMH is produced by small follicles in the ovaries and reflects the quantity of remaining eggs.

 Higher AMH

  • Suggests greater ovarian reserve

Lower AMH

  • May indicate reduced ovarian reserve

Important note: AMH does not directly measure egg quality.

Can You Have a Normal Cycle with Low AMH? Yes.

Studies show that women with regular cycles may still have diminished ovarian reserve.

This means:

  • Regular periods ≠ normal ovarian reserve

AMH and Fertility

AMH is particularly useful for predicting:

  • Ovarian response to stimulation

  • Number of eggs retrieved during IVF

  • Overall ovarian reserve

Lower AMH may be associated with fewer eggs retrieved during IVF.

However, it does not fully determine natural fertility potential.

Why AMH Is Important Before IVF

In IVF, ovarian response is critical.

AMH helps predict:

  • Response to stimulation

  • Egg yield

  • Treatment planning

This is why fertility clinics rely heavily on AMH levels.

The Role of Integrative Care

Integrative care does not aim to directly “increase AMH,”  but rather to optimize the ovarian environment.

Focus areas:

  • Improving ovarian blood flow

  • Supporting hormonal balance

  • Reducing stress

This may support patients during IVF preparation.

 Who May Benefit

  • Patients with low AMH

  • Those preparing for IVF

  • Poor ovarian response cases

  • Repeated IVF cycles

Collaborative Care

At Acupia Wellness, we work alongside fertility clinics.

  • We do not replace IVF

  • We provide complementary support

  • We focus on coordinated care

AMH is an important marker, but it is only one part of the bigger picture.

Fertility depends on overall physiological balance.

Acupia Wellness

We specialize in integrative fertility care for patients undergoing IVF.

Our goal is to support optimal conditions before, during, and after treatment.
