Rezen Detox & Whole-body renewal

When the body is balanced, everything functions better. We help restore vitality by supporting circulation, lymphatic flow, recovery, and the nervous system.

Whole-body renewal

We take a system-supportive approach that helps the body reset, recover, and function more efficiently. When circulation, lymph flow, and nervous system balance are restored, the body has greater capacity to heal and feel energised. Our care works to release tension, remove stagnation, boost overall flow, and reset the body from stress and fatigue.

By supporting core systems — muscular, circulatory, and lymphatic — we help the body feel lighter, clearer, and more aligned. The result is a renewed sense of vitality that enhances both daily function and long-term wellbeing.

.What is whole-body renewal care?

Whole-body renewal is a system-supportive approach that works on circulation, lymphatic flow, recovery, and nervous system balance together rather than treating one symptom in isolation. At Acupia Wellness in Irvine, care may combine acupuncture, lymphatic drainage, cupping, electro-moxibustion, and herbal medicine, selected based on your individual evaluation.

Why focus on recovery instead of weight loss?

Weight loss can be one result of better health, but it isn’t health itself. A question we hear often in the treatment room is: “I lost the weight, but I’m exhausted and I don’t feel like myself.” Losing weight and recovering function are two different problems. When the body recovers, energy returns, sleep quality improves, inflammation settles, and movement feels easier — which is why our program is built around metabolic recovery first.

How is this different from GLP-1 medications like Wegovy or Mounjaro?

They have different goals, and they aren’t competing approaches. GLP-1 medications are prescribed by a physician to reduce body weight and are effective treatments for obesity and diabetes under medical supervision. Acupia is an acupuncture and herbal medicine clinic — we don’t prescribe or manage medications. The Rezen Detox program isn’t a weight-loss drug or a substitute for one; it focuses on supporting the body’s metabolic environment and its own capacity to recover.

If weight reduction is your primary medical need, that’s a conversation for your physician, and we’ll say so. If your concern is fatigue, sluggish digestion, and feeling like your body isn’t functioning the way it used to, a recovery-focused program combining Rezen Detox with VST acupuncture and lymphatic drainage may be a good complement. Many patients do both, with their prescribing physician kept in the loop.

Can I do this program while taking a GLP-1 medication?

Often yes, but it should be coordinated. Never stop, pause, or adjust a prescribed medication on your own, and never on our advice — that decision belongs to your prescribing physician. Please tell us what you’re taking at your first visit and let your physician know you’re starting a dietary program. Because GLP-1 medications already reduce appetite and slow digestion, the structure and pacing of the program may need to be modified for you. We screen for this before recommending anything, and the program isn’t appropriate for everyone.

Is the Rezen Detox program just fasting or starving yourself?

No. The body already has a capable detoxification system — the liver processes compounds, the kidneys filter waste, and the gut and lymphatic system handle elimination and immune function. What overeating, frequent restaurant meals, stress, and poor sleep tend to do is prevent those systems from ever getting a rest, so they run less efficiently.

Rezen Detox is a modified fasting program: it supplies nutrients and electrolytes while reducing the digestive workload, so the body can redirect energy toward recovery. The premise is simple — giving the system a period of rest can allow more natural recovery than pushing harder. The program is supervised in our clinic by a licensed acupuncturist, and a health history review and detox questionnaire are completed before anyone begins.

Can this program help reduce inflammation in the body?

Supporting a healthier inflammatory environment is one of the program’s main goals. Chronic low-grade inflammation has drawn increasing attention as a contributing factor in fatigue, fatty liver, metabolic syndrome, joint discomfort, and skin concerns.

In program data collected on Rezen Detox participants, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) — a common blood marker used to assess inflammatory status — decreased by an average of approximately 60%. Individual results vary, hs-CRP is only one marker among many, and this is not a treatment for any specific disease. If you’d like to track your own numbers, we recommend having hs-CRP checked through your primary care provider before and after the program.

How does acupuncture support circulation and lymphatic flow?

Acupuncture is used to release muscular tension and fascial restriction along the pathways where lymph and blood travel. Because the lymphatic system has no central pump, it depends on movement, muscle tone, and open drainage points at the neck, underarm, and groin. By relaxing tight tissue around those areas, our acupuncturists aim to support the body’s own circulation and drainage. Learn more on our Lymphatic Drainage in Irvine page.

Who is a good candidate for whole-body renewal treatment?

This care is often a good fit for people who feel persistently tired, heavy, or puffy without a clear medical explanation. Common reasons patients come to us include:

  • Ongoing fatigue, brain fog, or low energy — including after weight loss
  • Swelling and fluid retention in the legs, arms, hands, or face
  • Recovery support after surgery, injury, or childbirth
  • Bloating, sluggish digestion, or feeling “stuck” after a stressful stretch
  • Frequent illness and a desire for immune and stress-recovery support
  • Interest in metabolic health and chronic low-grade inflammation

New or unexplained symptoms should always be evaluated by your physician first — we’re glad to work alongside that care.

How long is the program and how many sessions will I need?

A typical course runs about four weeks with two clinic visits per week, paired with a 10-day Rezen Detox period; shorter 5-day options are available depending on your situation and schedule. Acupuncture is generally provided at each visit, while cupping, lymphatic drainage, and moxibustion are rotated rather than stacked on the same day. Progress is reassessed as care continues. Individual results vary and cannot be guaranteed.

What should I expect during and after a session?

Your visit begins with an evaluation of posture, range of motion, and areas of tissue restriction. Treatment is generally gentle, and lymphatic work uses a light, shallow suction technique rather than deep pressure. Afterward, most patients feel relaxed and are advised to hydrate, move gently, and avoid heavy meals or alcohol for the rest of the day. Mild temporary soreness or cupping marks can occur and typically fade within a few days. During a detox period, some people notice temporary fatigue, headache, or changes in digestion — these are reviewed with you in advance and monitored throughout.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Most people are pleasantly surprised to find that acupuncture is not painful. The needles we use are extremely thin, much finer than those used for injections. You may feel a tiny pinch or a gentle tingling sensation when the needle is inserted, but many patients describe the experience as relaxing. Some even fall asleep during the session!

Cupping is a traditional therapy that uses gentle suction to improve circulation, release tension, and support the body’s natural healing process. Small cups are placed on specific areas of the body, creating a vacuum that helps draw out stagnation and ease sore muscles. Many patients find cupping deeply relaxing, and it often leaves temporary circular marks that fade within a few days.

The frequency of treatment depends on the severity and duration of your condition. For acute pain or chronic issues, we usually recommend starting with two sessions per week to achieve noticeable relief.

As your symptoms improve, visits are gradually reduced, first to once a week, then every two weeks, and eventually to once a month for maintenance and prevention. This step-by-step approach allows your body to heal while supporting long-term balance and wellness.

Acupia Wellness accepts most major insurance plans, and acupuncture visits are covered under many policies. Coverage for specific services varies by plan, and program components such as herbal formulas and supplements are generally not covered.
